PSYCHOSOMATIC DISORDERS AND ILLNESSES

.

Permanent mental stress can express itself in your physical state. The doctor cannot find a purely organic cause; this is a psychosomatic illness. Back pain, stomach and intestinal problems, cardiovascular disorders such as difficulty in breathing, and ringing in the ears are some examples.

Mental tension created by your reaction to your professional or private environment, affects the body tries to protect itself by responding with pain. Psychotherapy is ideally suited to such problems and can help to significantly alleviate the symptoms.

.

Symptoms and Diagnosis

.

It is not uncommon for psychosomatic complaints to trigger a physical illness , which is why it is important to recognise and treat psychological triggers in good time.

Therapy can also be useful in the case of an enduring illness , because a stable psyche promotes self healing and can reduce symptoms . It is well known that positive, solution orientated and organised thinking can strengthen the immune system. Constant exhaustion and tiredness, gastrointestinal and digestive problems are all made worse by a weak immune system.

This is one of the most appropriate areas to apply Psychotherapy and good results can be achieved quite quickly.

Of course a physical examination is useful to rule out any severe organic causes. Most clients are either aware of this, or have already had the necessary examinations before they finally find the solution in Psychotherapy.

.

OVERCOMING PSYCHOSOMATIC ILLNESS

.

Because of the close interaction between body and mind, the treatment of psychosomatic complaints takes physical, mental and social factors into account. Psychotherapy promotes a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet and exercise. We might also apply addiction therapy to address issues such as a a high alcohol intake.

In my practice in Mainz, you will learn to question your current behavior and attitudes and, if possible, to change them for the better . We will carry out careful search to find out the psychological cause that trigger the physical symptoms. I will also practice relaxation and breathing techniques with you that will enable you to counteract physical ailments.

This is one of the most appropriate areas to apply Psychotherapy and good results can be achieved quite quickly.

Your questions about psychosomatic complaints

.

Mental stress, stress or life crises as well as traumatic experiences, some of which were long ago, can trigger or intensify physical complaints. Digestive problems, chronic pain, heart problems or tinnitus are often based on psychological problems. In general, a specialist must first clarify whether and to what extent physical factors are causing the symptoms.

No, the symptoms and the illness actually exist; for example an accelerated heartbeat can be felt and blood pressure actually increases. The problem is that here is simply no recognisable physical cause and severe symptoms cannot be diagnosed by a doctor as an illness.

The process involves discovering the psychological cause that trigger the physical illness.
